Colum was the first author I collaborated with on my site. Already a great writer he went on to win the National Book Award for "Let the Great World Spin".
Thomas Kelly has written three great crime/NYC politics novels and was most recently an executive producer/writer on the TV show "Blue Bloods". He is currently executive producer/writer for the BBC America show "Copper".
Award winning poet, educator, and editor David Lehman offered this tantalizing behind the scenes series idea for major historical events.

Novelist and short story writer Lydia Millet offered this hypothetical idea book idea for an environmental non fiction book cowritten with husband Kierian Suckling.
So far this is the only Hypothetical Library "book" that the author, Brian Evenson, went on to write as an actual book called "Immobility". He stuck to the basic premise but it evolved into a different, wonderful, dark story—his speciality.
This one forced me to use my long atrophied drawing/illustration skills but was a great deal of fun.
Emily Barton's idea was so rich it inspired me to make a hypothetical Yiddish theater poster. I had to call a lot of friends and friends of friends to get the Hebrew and Yiddish correct. On the site there is an annotated pdf with translations. http://hypolib.typepad.com/the-hypothetical-library/2010/08/emily-barton.html.
Not exactly a hypothetical cover. I was asked by Wired magazine's Geek Dad Jonathan H. Liu if I could "quickly" do a cover for a short story by Charles Yu. What you see took exactly 12 hours from reading the short story (zombies!) to completing this cover.
When cartoonist author Nick Abadzis created his hit graphic novel "Laika" he initially envisioned a trilogy. The Hypothetical Library helped him address that by doing hypothetical covers for the "trilogy" Just for fun we did alternate Russian versions with help from friend of The Hypothetical Library Masha Ostling Rudina.
I was surprised when poet Jennifer L. Knox offered up an idea for a slightly skewed "Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew" style series. Illustration by Elizabeth Zechel.
A Mother's day present for my Mom—her own hypothetical biography.
A Father's day present for my dad. I made him charecter in his own spy novel.
A logo for The Hypothetical Library. Inspired by Jorge Luis Borges' "Library of Babel".
Promotional piece for the The Hypothetical Library.
