A branding project for my Graphic Design 4 class, using Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
This was a class project where I had to design a brand for a restaurant. I had three options to choose from: create one after an author, artist, or scientist. I chose to create one after an author, which was placing the location in Boston, MA. I chose Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as the inspiration for my cafe. After doing research of authors from Boston, I started reading some of Longfellow's poems. I found that the Lighthouse poem was one of his more famous poems, so I went with it. So here is the branding ideas and soon the brand for Longfellow Cafe.
Here are some ideas I started with for the logo of the cafe. Trying to play off the 'lighthouse' and 'fireside' ideas. I tried to incorporate the hand lettering look to resemble a notebook or journal that he would have written his poems in and the way he would have written his poem, using a sort of calligraphy style.
Here is the business card that I ended up choosing. As you can see I chose the logo of the drawn lighthouse and hand lettering.
Here is a spread of the menu. The menu was made in signatures so the page would be printed and folded to create front and back. It included 8 pages (2 signatures).
