Exeter Entrepreneurs Society
Louis Evans, Head of Design (2019-2020)
For the academic year of 2019-2020, I have been the Head of Design for Exeter Entrepreneurs Society, the largest society on campus by number of members.
We ran many events, all of them needing event graphics (social media posts, banners, cover photos...). This project shows the designs which I created, in (roughly) chronological order.
As the position was an unpaid committee role, I was able to create designs in whichever style I wanted. This often meant that I was experimenting with recent inspiration from styles which I'd found aesthetically pleasing.
One motif which I used often within the Entrepreneurs Society branding was the use of 3D objects, with gradient maps applied to them. These were often superimposed onto gradient backgrounds, with appropriate use of the society's font which I was given access to at the start of the year.
The above design, if I recall, was lightly inspired by @madebystudiojq on Instagram. I'd definitely recommend checking out their work.
ExCode was the largest event which EES hosted, with a peak of roughly 800 attendees for one session. We began marketing this series a long time in advance. The events were designed to teach students basic programming (web development).
There were one-off events, too.
...The Christmas Ball design was perhaps too experimental.
Overall, I had a great time as Head of Design for Exeter Entrepreneurs Society. It's a great opportunity to have a channel of creative output where you can instantly see people's responses. More appealing graphic design often results in higher interest from society members.
