Junta-do es un proyecto basado en la historia de mi abuela, Helda. El proyecto parte del entendimiento de su vida, una abuela apasionada por el hacer en el tejido y en el bordado, y el dar a su familia. Una abuela que se ve afectada por la artritis, lo cual generó un distanciamiento entre su mano y el tejido, reflejando la imposibilidad causada por la enfermedad. Una distancia manual pero también una distancia temporal. Un tiempo más extenso en el proceso que se traduce en un cuidado en el hacer. Sin embargo, entre esta distancia prevalece su lucha y perseverancia, las cuales se encuentran articuladas por su relación con la familia y con otros, y que seguidamente, se ven reflejadas en el cuidado en cada una de sus piezas. La tolerancia, la paciencia y la resistencia, son elementos principales en el no desfallecer. Valores que son inculcados en la familia, y la transmisión de conocimientos de generación en generación. Objetos que reflejan su esencia y su legado. Objetos que cuidaron en un pasado, cuidan en un presente y cuidarán en un futuro, y en cada uno de ellos se encuentra la dedicación de una abuela que vivía por el amor a su familia. Una abuela que surge de un territorio que le enseñó un hacer ancestral y cultural desde una convergencia cultural con una comunidad indígena. La Junta, el territorio que la vio nacer y crecer. Un territorio que hizo parte de su identidad.

Junta-do nace del nombre de su territorio de origen: la Junta, Guajira. Asimismo, incluye el concepto de juntar, o de lograr una unión. Nace de generar la articulación de la representación cultural del territorio y la representación de la vida de Helda. De originar un entendimiento del territorio y de su influencia en la vida de Helda.

De esta manera, Junta-do busca diseñar un nuevo recuerdo de Helda para dar continuidad a su legado y lograr el concepto de transtemporalidad familiar, a partir de la traducción de su vida.

Junta-do is a project based on the story of my grandmother, Helda. The project originates on the understanding of her life, a grandmother that is passionate about “doing” in weaving and embroidery, and giving to her family. A grandmother affected by arthritis, which generated a distance between her hand and the fabric, reflecting the impossibility caused by the disease. A manual distance but also a temporary distance. A more extensive time in the process that translates into care in “doing”. However, her fight and perseverance prevail among this distance, which are values articulated by her relationship with her family and others, and additionally, are reflected through care in each of her pieces. Tolerance, patience and endurance are main elements for not giving up. Values that are instilled in the family and maintained though the transmission of knowledge from generation to generation. Objects that portray her essence and her legacy. Objects that cared in the past, care in the present and will care in the future, and on each of them is the dedication of a grandmother who lived for the love of her family. A grandmother who emerges from a territory that taught her an ancestral and cultural activity from a cultural convergence with an indigenous community. La Junta, the territory that saw her birth, her rise, and her growth. A territory that became part of her identity.

Junta-do is originated from the name of her native territory: La Junta, Guajira. It also includes the concept of joining (juntar) or achieving a union. It arises from generating the articulation of the cultural representation of the territory and the representation of Helda's life. It emerges from generating an understanding of the territory and its influence on Helda's life.

Therefore, Junta-do seeks to design a new memory of Helda to give continuity to her legacy and achieve the concept of family transtemporality, based on the translation of her life.

Identidad Material del hacer de Helda

La mochila como un elemento de representación cultural y como la representación de la madre tierra. Toma un papel de representar el territorio que vio nacer a Helda Araújo, mi abuela. De esta manera, la propuesta del proyecto se da desde la concepción del mochilón como el gran contenedor de elementos. Se entiende como un contenedor de mayor tamaño, que a medida que crece en altura, va estirándose para representar la perseverancia de Helda durante su vida y frente a la adversidad. De igual forma, también representa los elementos que se interpretan en el proyecto como un contenedor de la familia, de los valores de la familia, que unen y permiten la integración entre el tejido cultural Wiwa y el hacer de mi abuela, el bordado.
