Nowhere. Now, Here.

Public Space.
Nowhere.
Now, Here.
Nowhere. Now, Here.
The romantic idea of becoming a public space.

“Nothing is experienced by itself, but always in relation to its surroundings, the sequences of events leading up to it, the memory of past experiences. Every citizen has had long associations with some part of his city or the city in which he is living. This image is soaked in memories and meanings.”

This study is a preliminary exploration on finding ways to change and shape the image of the public space.
On the basis that we relate to our environment emotionally, the project is an attempt to share emotions and build new memories through my physical presence by adding a new layer to the environmental image that I have of the city and hopefully, also to affect the people I get in contact with.

In the process of way-finding the right path to presumptuously “becoming the public space”, I experienced and engaged with the public space in a new way. I challenged myself and my romantic ideas, here the documentation of my experience.
Emotions
My body brings me here, in this specific point of the huge and crowded public space in which I am in. If my attempt is to share emotions, the space must be one of my places. One of the spots of the city that creates my urban dimension of emotions that I hold dear in my memories.
My emotions are becoming the hope of creating a new memory here.

Moment
I feel contrasted emotions, I know that nowadays people do not trust people. I place my camera, and I know that this can create an additional barrier between me and the others. If only one person is going to give me a little moment, it will make my day.

Space
“Sight lines are important. If people do not see a space, they will not use it”.  A big blue fabric on the floor. Some colors, and pens in a nice wood box in perfect picnic style. A little notebook that I would like to thin at the end of the day, as my gift for this shared moment: “ME. Now, Here.”. As well as the specular copy of the other notebook that I would like to load at the end of the day, recording the traces of these encounters:  “YOU. Now, Here.”.
The public space is nowhere
But if you decide to stop, the public space is now, here.
The noise of the city is always here.
But if you stop, our words will replace it.
Nowhere. Now, Here.
