Self-portrait

The images in this series come from a single self-portrait. With this process of digital image making, I attempt to find pieces of my long lost father.

My father passed away when I was a child. Soon, his photographs disappeared from our walls, his clothes left the closet and all our furniture moved around. Over the next several years, life moved faster than ever. I did not think about him at all. The life he lived within my memories simply. withered. away. About ten or so years later, for the first time ever, I found a few of my father’s belongings. Among which was a framed portrait. An almost stranger, wearing all formal, staring directly at me. Whenever the sense of sheer hopelessness overwhelms and the void intensifies, I take shelter to this portrait and reflect parts of myself through various objects, color, elements, sound, sight and occurrences around me.
