a chess board designed entirely from a single metal tube
Chess is definitely one of the most popular and ancient board games. It was played by kings and emperors from before the Middle Ages, and was widespread in all civilizations in the form of different variants. It wasn't a mere board games, but it represented real war scenarios in which the individual pieces were real factions that fought in the past.
Starting from their symbolic meaning and history, each chessman has been redesigned with inspiration took from the shapes, styles and icons of the european Middle Ages: therefore a helmet becomes a pawn, a mitre becomes a bishop and a merlon becomes the detail of a tower. this pieces are now represented by a single detail cut on a metal tube that give them a minimalistic look without distancing too much from traditional representations.
