Mana Magazine
Illustration for antiracist magazine Mana for a text by Nazanin Sepehri, reflecting on the importance of the support she received from her professor and mentor Sarah Ahmed during a time when the university and her former allies failed to support actions on injustice and trespasses. In 2016 Ahmed left her position as professor and head of institution at Goldsmith College in protest of the institution failing to handle the problem of sexual harassment of female students by the staff. In an open letter 29 students at Goldsmiths thanked Ahmed for the support and mentorship she had given to their feminist endeavors in this harsh climate. This image is a visualization of Ahmed's sacrifice but also of each of the 29 students she so deeply affected. The flowers are winter jasmines, that have the ability to bloom even in colder climates.
