STADIO DEI MARMI - ROMA

STADIO DEI MARMI
The stadium owes its name above all to the 64 colossal statues in white Carrara marble which overhang the stands 5.50 meters from the ground. These statues represent athletes performing various sporting activities. They were offered by the Italian provinces. For example, the statue representing a javelin thrower was offered by the Province of Perugia, while that representing the Pallone col bracciale (one of the variants of Pallone, the Italian palm game) is a present from the Province of Forlì-Cesena .
