"The Edison" Luxury Apartments and Vicinity

It was the first warm Spring day, and I took the opportunity to explore this new (and as yet still unrented) apartment complex. I walked around the entire site, clicking as I went.
The ordinary-looking 19th Century mill buildings on the other side of the river are in fact of great historical significance. They were later additions to the first modern textile mill—and the first modern industrial corporation—in the United States.
The mill's many innovations in technology and organization served as a model and a spur for the country's young industrial revolution. The original buildings are still there, but not quite visible in these photos. For more on this consequential piece of American history, see my story, The Mill.
