Type Design Experimentation
www.typegenerator.net
There are many classification systems that describe the visual characterisations of typefaces. Each classification is given due to the difference of stroke contrast, serif shape, stress. All relating to the proportions of the letterforms. In developing the Riley typeface, these classifications were taken into account and experimented with. Crossing these styles can produce new results. In drawing the O, I attempted to make the stress slightly oblique to begin with. This would affect the letterforms of the entire set of characters because the proportions of the O not only affects the sizes of each character but also appears thorughout the typeface.I started with the Capital letters, particularly the capital I and H. It makes sense that the I will be duplicated to create the H.This eventually lead to the letter R.
