The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, founded in 2006, is home to the UAE National Space Programme. ย The Centre builds and operates earth observation satellites, offering imaging and data analysis services to clients around the world. The Centre launched DubaiSat-1, DubaiSat-2, and recently launched KhalifaSat on 29 ย October ย 2018 ย from ย Tanegashima ย Space Center in Japan. ย KhalifaSat was developed ย 100% in the UAE ย by ย a team of highly qualified Emirati engineers.
The Centre is responsible for the development of the Emirates Mars Mission and the Mars ย Hope ย Probe, ย a ย mission ย to ย reach ย Mars ย orbit ย by ย 2021 ย and ย gather ย key ย science ย data ย about Marsโ€™ atmosphere, as well as the UAE Astronaut Programme, which saw the launch of Hazzaa AlMansoori, ย first ย Emirati ย Astronaut, ย to ย the ย International ย Space ย Station ย on ย a ย scientific ย mission on 25th September 2019, and the development of the Mars 2117 vision to build a human colony on Mars.
