هُوَ هادِئٌ
وأنا كذلكَ

يَحْتَسي شاياً بليمونٍ،
وأَشربُ قهوةً،
هذا هُوَ الشيءُ المغايرُ بَيْنَنَا.
هُوَ يرتدي، مثلي، قميصاً واسعاً ومُخططاً
وأنا أطالعُ، مثلَهُ، صُحُفَ المساءْ.
هو لا يراني حين أنظرُ خِلْسَةً،
أنا لا أراه حين ينظرُ خلسةً،
هو هادئٌ،
وأنا كذِلكَ.
يسألُ الجرسونَ شيئاً،
أسألُ الجرسونَ شيئاً...
قطَّةٌ سوداءُ تعبُرُ بَيْنَنَا،
فأجسّ فروةَ ليلها
ويجسُّ فَرْوَةَ ليلها...
أنا لا أقول لَهُ: السماءُ اليومَ صافيةٌ
وأكثرُ زرقةً.
هو لا يقول لي: السماءُ اليومَ صافيةٌ.
هو المرئيُّ والرائي
أنا المرئيُّ والرائي.
أحرِّكُ رِجْليَ اليُسْرى
يحرك رجلَهُ اليُمْنَى.
أدندنُ لحن أغنيةٍ،
يدندن لحنَ أُغنية مُشَابهةٍ.
أفكِّرُ: هل هو المرآةُ أبصر فيه نفسي؟
ثم أَنظر نحوعينيه،
ولكن لا أراهُ...
فأتركُ المقهى على عَجَلٍ.
أفكّر: رُبَّما هو قاتلٌ،
أو رُبّما
هو عابرٌ قد ظنَّ أني قاتلٌ
هو خائِفٌ، وأنا كذلكْ!

He doesn't see me when I secretly watch him.

A black cat walks between us.
I stroke her dark night Fur.
He pets her dark night fur.
He is calm, so am I.
I don't tell him: today the sky is clear
and more blue.
He doesn't tell me: the sky is clear today.
He is the seer and the sight.
I am the sight and the seer.
I move my left leg.
He moves his right leg.
I hum a song.
He hums a similar song.
I think: is he the mirror, in which I'm looking at myself?
Then I look for his eyes,
but I do not see him.
I leave the cafe in a hurry.
I think maybe he's a murderer or someone
Who thinks I am a murderer
He is afraid,
so am I.
