Together We Shop
Bags for the Shopping Community of Chikpete.
The idea came from a Performance Art Piece at the Chikpete Metro Station which I was a part of. The entire Chikpete station is filled with people on the weekends to shop from Bangalore's one of the biggest wholesale market. For the perfromance art we had to study the behavioural pattern of the people who often visit this place. We talked to consumers and the vendors at K.R. Market as well. There were few stalls put up by my fellow students at the metro station which handed out free shopping paper bags which you were allowed to customise by using screen-prints provided there. When I made these illustrations, I had the colours of Chikpete, the expressions and vibe of the people there and the idea of making a common thing for the community in my head.
These bags bring together all the shoppers and make their mundane every weekend shopping plan a bit more colourful and joyful. They also promote the use of Cloth bag instead of plastic bags as a lot of people were still seen using plastic bags.
