KOLAM — Typographic Exploration

In India a 'Kolam’ is a geometrical line drawing composed of curved loops around a grid pattern of dots. Considered to bring prosperity and as a gesture of welcome — it is drawn on the floor outside the main gate.

I intended to juxtapose and incorporate this traditional visual expression into type — and consequently created a layered typographical expression of ‘No Parking’ — a sign that ironically is hung outside the main gate to warn people against parking their cars in front of them.
