Dadò è un sistema di arredo e gioco per bambini composto da una struttura in faggio trattato che funge da tavolino o anche seduta per un adulto, e un pouf interamente in canapa. Il pouf stimola la collaborazione e la tattilità con tre scacchiere tridimensionali e due maniglie. Le pedine sono raccolte all’interno di uno scomparto in tessuto sotto il ripiano del tavolino. Per far scoprire la canapa come materiale è stato pensato anche un memory con tessere in legno che illustrano diversi oggetti che possono essere realizzati in questo materiale.

Dadò is a furniture and play system for children composed of a structure in treated beech wood that acts as a table or even a seat for an adult, and a pouf made entirely of hemp. The pouf stimulates collaboration and tactility with three three-dimensional chessboards and two handles. The pawns are collected inside a fabric compartment under the table top. In order to let you discover hemp as a material, a memory has also been designed. The wooden memory cards illustrate different objects that can be made of this material.

Perché la canapa?
La canapa è una valida risposta ecologica in diversi settori, dalla produzione alimentare al bio-carburante, dalla carta ai tessuti e cordame, dai prodotti cosmetici alla bio-edilizia. È una pianta millenaria che cresce velocemente con un fabbisogno minimo di acqua e non richiede l’uso di pesticidi; è resistente, durevole, ipoallergenica e antibatterica. La canapa può essere inoltre fonoassorbente e isolante, e contribuisce a regolare l’umidità all’interno di un ambiente. L’utilizzo della canapa era largamente diffuso (soprattutto in Italia) fino alle leggi proibizioniste che includevano la canapa nelle liste delle droghe, senza distinguere tra canapa industriale e marijuana. Solo negli anni Novanta molti Paesi hanno ripreso la coltivazione della canapa reinvestendo in ricerca e sviluppo.
Oggi il mondo del giocattolo e dell’arredamento per l’infanzia è improntato perlopiù sull’utilizzo massivo di materie plastiche. Date le sue proprietà e caratteristiche fisiche, la canapa è invece un’alternativa che rispetta l’ambiente e tutela la vita del bambino, allenando i sensi ad apprezzare nuove texture e odori provenienti dalla natura. Il progetto Dadò evidenzia la canapa come materiale e sfrutta la pianta nei suoi derivati e prodotti (feltro, canapulo e tessuto) per ottenere il massimo con il minimo spreco.

Why hemp?
Hemp is a valid ecological answer in different sectors, from food production to bio-fuel, from paper to fabrics and ropes, from cosmetic products to bio-construction. It is a millenary plant that grows quickly with a minimum need of water and does not require the use of pesticides; it is resistant, durable, hypoallergenic and antibacterial. Hemp can also be sound absorbent and insulating, and helps regulate humidity within an environment. The use of hemp was widespread (especially in Italy) up to the prohibitionist laws that included hemp in drug lists, without distinguishing between industrial hemp and marijuana. Only in the nineties many countries resumed the cultivation of hemp reinvesting in research and development.
Today, the world of toys and children's furniture is largely based on the massive use of plastics. Given its properties and physical characteristics, hemp is instead an alternative that respects the environment and protects the child's life, training the senses to appreciate new textures and smells from nature. The Dadò project highlights hemp as a material and exploits the plant in its derivatives and products (felt, wood and fabric) to obtain the maximum with the minimum waste.
