Over the course of the last decade, our firm has collaborated on multiple projects on this campus with the architecture firm Flewelling and Moody. Some of the projects included new construction of new buildings and some involved the master planning and renovation of the main central courtyard or quad for the campus in 2012.
The Fullerton Community College Campus Commons project is the first of a campus wide building program and serves as the centerpoint of campus social life housing food services and a bookstore. MBA created an attractive outdoor environment with terraces and lawn areas. An existing massive Ficus rubiginosa tree was protected during construction and provides shade for the outdoor terraces and scale to the new, two story building. The building maintains a prominent location on Chapman Avenue with flowering Jacaranda and Floss Silk trees and other colorful foundation plantings.
The Classroom Office Building was completed 1 year later within the interior of the campus and has a more classical Spanish-style architecture. The plantings include a combination of boldly colorful drought tolerant plantings such as White Iceberg roses, Red Fountain grasses, and Kangaroo Paw as well as generous lawn areas for students to enjoy.
