The brief was to study and document Tibetan Woodcarving practiced at Norbulingka Institute, Dharmshala, HP and then create a promotional window display for the craft and the Institute.
We researched thoroughly about the craft by visiting the field and interviewed Artisans for better understanding of the craft. The document contains a detailed research on this Tibetan Art form.

For the promotional display we started brainstorming and developing low fidelity prototype.
The idea was to design an interactive - promotional window display promoting the ancient craft of wood carving and wood painting. We set up an actual “Window” carved in Tibetan fashion which will give a sneak peek into the colourful world of Tibet by activating the 4 senses. Visuals (by using carved panels and mimicing wood painting) , Smell (by lighting an Tibetan incense sticks), Sound (by playing Tibetan Mantras) and Texture. The main centre of attraction will be the 4 auspicious symbols of the Tibetan culture that will be behind the window.
Colours used were kept same as the traditional Tibetan prayer flags to keep the essence of Tibet intact. Each hue represents an element.
