Beginning from a tiny sapling, over many years of growth, trees grow to provide one of the most important roles in providing life on Earth. They create the oxygen we breathe as a byproduct of photosynthesis. They are being destroyed at an unprecedented rate that the climate is now being affected.

However, just like humans, they decline with age and will eventually die. Their lifeless structure will continue to decay over many years forming wonderful textures and shapes, creating a breeding ground for insects and fungi. To me, this process is the most beautiful part.

This series was shot at various locations close to my home in Derbyshire, England.
