My aspirations for this painting was to return to this concept of moodiness; a grumpy, and uninterested mind. I was greatly inspired by Jenny Saville and her use of large brush strokes and fleshy tones contrasted with cold streaks of blues and greens. Saville focuses on the controversial representations of women 's physical appearance, here I am challenging this in the same way however, as I have also depicted in other pieces, I'd like to be able to portray women's emotions in a more controversial light as opposed to strictly appearance. I'd like to be able to show women as moody and hormonal and to challenge the idea of always being cheerful, calm, collected and beautiful. I think the concept here was an interesting one which I will continue to explore, and I enjoyed working with warm and cold tones to produce a more abstract look.
