Sleeping module for "Hostainers" hostel

Location: Saint-Petersburg, Russia
Square: 15 m²
Kelkh Architects team created a project of a 4-bed sleeping module for a hostel based on a intermodal container in the fall of 2019.
The idea of modular container housing is as old as the world. Despite this, we were hooked on the very concept of a portable hostel that can be transported on an ordinary truck anywhere in the world, whether it be a sea coast or a mountain plateau.
A clear vector was set for simplicity and functionality in the technical task. In the conditions of such a cramped space, any detail is important — everything should be thought out to the screw and clearly docked. We thought out in detail every centimeter of the sleeping module, preparing detailed blueprints for assembly.
Once inside the sleeping place, you have everything you need at your fingertips - a power socket, reading lamp, USB charging and a hanger with hooks, a convenient double curtain protecting from the common space and a dimmer for adjusting the warm diffused light. The perforated partition at the headboard creates a feeling of privacy, while not interfering with the flow of fresh air during sleep, without using a noisy fan.
