After La La Land was nominated for best picture, some critics were skeptical of its accolades, but one thing that cannot be denied is the movie's beautiful aesthetic and soundtrack. Inspired by the main theme (Mia & Sebastian's Theme), I wanted to pay homage to the modern classic that changed my opinion on musicals.

Based on the classic scene where Mia and Sebastian dance in front of the backlit L.A. landscape, I wanted amplify the decorative art deco style while maintaining a modern feel.

During the design process, I saw an opportunity to create playing cards using the characters as the King and Queen. Just a fun exploration to add to the branding.
