I collaborated with the creative studio Victory to help create key art for the launch of
Giannis Antetokounmpo's first signature sneaker from Nike, the Zoom Freak 1.
The film "Coming to America" remained Giannis' favourite film throughout his life. He related to the main character, Prince Akeem (played by Eddie Murphy) and his desire to venture far from home to America
to find his true love; Giannis' being basketball. This was a natural fit for introducing Giannis to the
Nike Basketball family, approved by the man himself.
To honour Giannis' beginnings and how far he's come, we placed him front and centre taking the place
of Prince Akeem, highlighting his journey from his humble beginnings in Greece to becoming the MVP
basketball star he is today.
My Contributions:
Conceptualizing and sketching the initial ideas with the team, creating something new and modern while still honouring the source material.
Illustrating all of the objects, including the Greek column, title ribbon, and crown.*
