We were contacted for the development of a design project for a creative space for the educational system. Coworking was planned to be placed in the historical center of the capital, in one of the buildings of the historical Arsenal plant.

The main idea is to combine history and innovation. And the building itself became the first challenge. To place innovations in education in a historical building of the 18th century, coworking and office of the organization, the main profile of which is to make the space bright, memorable, and conducive to communication, forming a cozy unobtrusive atmosphere - this is not an easy task.

The vaulted structure of the premises has caused restrictions on loads, difficulties in laying engineering systems and a rigid framework in planning decisions.

In terms of functional content, we tried to provide the opportunity to choose a wide variety of work scenarios, therefore there are “closed” offices, open space, small concentration niches, places for communication and meetings, trainings and conferences, a children's room, and of course a number of service rooms.

The comfort of work is displayed in optimal conditions of microclimate, lighting, acoustics, ergonomics and all the necessary things that visitors may need.

Current trends of emphasis on environmental friendliness are manifested in the use of appropriate materials, sorting of garbage and the abundance of plants that have become part of space.

Since the space is mainly designed for public events and meetings it was very important to achieve acoustic comfort in the space. Therefore, to achieve these goals, the following solutions were used: acoustic islands, sound-absorbing panels, soft wall panels and carpet flooring in communication areas and high concentration.

And the highlight of the whole space was the wall of “ball of thread”, which in addition to the main function has become a magnet for selfie lovers.

In October 2019 Kyiv was replenished with a unique place in which agents of educational changes from all over Ukraine will meet to work, learn and be inspired, learn new things, share their own achievements and find creative like-minded people!
