Introduction
Theme: The External Eye.
The eye is the visual organ. In essence, it converts light into electro-chemical input that can be processed by the brain. It synthesizes and communicates.

The Little Red Hoody is a maze video game combined with reality. The main player-Little Red Hoody walks in the maze and can only see the street view. Other two players (wolf and grandma) have maps on their hand and tell the main player directions. Grandma wants the Little Red Hoody to arrive her home. While the bad wolf needs to lead the main player to its place and eat her. The interesting point is Little Red Hoody doesn’t know who is who.
Ideation
My teammate Monica and me used an entire afternoon to do the brainstorming. To create an external eye that we all may experience, at first, we plan to use visual imagination and visual memory. The first idea was to make a half-page comic story. But we wanted our project to be more interesting with more people to participate. Then we thought about a situation when we have to guide someone else on the phone. That is a normal circumstance for everyone. Monica mentioned the classic fairy tale – The Little Red Riding Hood. And we think it is cool to make the story happen in New York. Therefore, we settled down on this idea.
To make our project more enjoyable for our classmates, we added a little competition. Finally, we have two directors-wolf and grandma, and one executor – little red hoody. The player or executor chooses her route according to two directors’ instruction. But she doesn’t know who is the wolf and who is the grandma. Wolf and grandma have the map, but the little red hoodie only can see the street view.
We started from design the map and logo, also characters. After finishing the design part, we used laser cutting machine to make physical maps in wooden board. This is our final map.

Once the map part’s done, we started to make the video game part. The problem was we cannot get access of Occulus Rift, which we planned to use for the main player. So we can only use the computer screen for the player as an alternative. The game was made with Unity3D. We got street views through Google Maps. It is not easy to tell what kind of store it is in New York since they have similar appearance. And this will push the conversation between Little Red Hoody and directors.
