THE PROJECT
NOISE is a podcast by Funaro Investments that interviews real estate investment experts, in order to educate young professionals on breaking into the industry. I had the opportunity to design the logo that will be used for the podcast and website -- set to launch in Summer of 2020.
This podcast's title, NOISE, is a play on words from the term "NOI", or "net operating income." We decided on having a no-nonsense building design, with a flair of fun in the handwritten title.
I considered how the design would need to be easily recognizable on a variety of devices, in different sizes, and on popular apps for podcasts — Apple Podcast, Spotify, Downcast, and Overcast.
In initial design, I experimented with using buildings and microphones to combine the ideas of real estate and audio together. I eventually ditched the microphone image in favor of radio signals coming out of the top of the top building.
Using a test group of 12 people, I ensured that almost every person made immediate associations with buildings and audio upon seeing the logo.
I also took this opportunity to start learning motion graphics design using Adobe AfterEffects. It took a while to wrap my head around the software, even to do this simple animation, but I'm proud of how it came out in the end. Excited to expand my knowledge of AfterEffects and add it to my skillset!
