Wie stellt man den Charakter eines Menschen anhand von Typografie dar? Meine Antwort auf diese Frage ist ein Buch über die digitale Gefühlswelt meiner Kommilitonin Wendi.
Den drei Basisemotionen Wut, Trauer und Freude ist je ein Kapitel und eine Farbe zugeordnet. Jedes Kapitel beginnt mit dem „Lexikon der Gefühle“, einer sachlichen Erläuterung zur jeweiligen Emotion. Es folgen mit Stempel und Schreibmaschine bearbeitete Sprach- und Textnachrichten. Außerdem zählte ich Wendis Kraftausdrücke und Emojis in der WhatsApp-Gruppe unseres Studiengangs und fasste diese in Statistiken zusammen.
Entstanden ist Buch, das geprägt ist von dem Kontrast zwischen digitalem Inhalt und analoger Form, zwischen Sachlichkeit und Emotionalität. Der Titel greift diese Spannung auf: Digitale Emotionen

How do you depict the character of a person using typography? My answer to this question is a book about the digital emotional world of my fellow student Wendi.
The three basic emotions anger, sadness and joy are each assigned a chapter and a colour. Each chapter begins with the "Lexicon of Emotions", a factual explanation of the respective emotion. This is followed by voice and text messages edited with stamp and typewriter. I also counted Wendi's swear words and emojis in the WhatsApp group of our degree course and summarized them in statistics.
The result is a book that is characterized by the contrast between digital content and analog form, between objectivity and emotionality. The title takes up this tension: Digital Emotions
