The Ring of Fire is a celebration of traditional craftsmanship.  Its form was inspired by the complex,  dynamic figure of fire coral.  The design embraces the contrast between the smooth and polished shank  and rough and gnarled head.  The Ring of Fire was designed with the intent to create an object that makes a bold, unapologetic statement and inevitably attracts attention.  I hand-sculpted the positive from wax that was then cast in brass using the lost wax technique.  Larger images to be released soon.
