PICKLE
Pickle is an electronic music project consisting of a cartoon character, acting as a music artist signed on Spinnin Records. I joined the project right before it's public reveal during early 2019 and was in charge of creating it's character design based on an earlier sketch, giving "Pickle" a personality, defining it's visual concept, and produce artworks and any other promotional material doing drawings, photo compositing, and animation.
Pickle, as I originally envisioned him, had a personality that often contrasted with his looks. Even though he was designed like a somewhat cute 20s/30s animated character and tried to put a charming cartoon front, in reality he was often a "wannabe" completely full of himself, always trying to make everything be about him and acting as the famous musician he wanted to be and not as the unknown cartoon he actually was. But, despite all of his flaws, he was extremely determined and often an underdog that the audience could sympathise with. My idea was to have some of his personality traits and the way he acted as a satirical and hyperbolic parody of certain aspects of the EDM culture and the music business.
Visually, I wanted the character to be a cartoon living in our real world, by having him as a drawing in photos or videos and interacting with real objects. The following is the work I did while I was part of the project during the first half of 2019.
