This is a project made in a Photoshop class. We were told to choose our favorite movie and redesign the cover of the DVD, create a poster, and also a banner ad to go with it. This was a project created completely for fun and is not to be resold or distributed as the actual design of the movie. It was created solely for Photoshop learning purposes. 

My favorite movie is the Secret Life of Walter Mitty. These are the original covers and marketing materials that I found on a google search.

I loved the inclusion of both city and mountains in these designs and decided to continue that style. I didn't have access, nor the rights to the photos of the actual movie, so instead I accessed photos from a website called Unsplash for photos to work with. Here are some of those photos. 

I found the closest font that I could to the original because I also loved the simplicity of his name at the top. With the font and all of the photos combined, this was my final poster, DVD cover, and banner ad. 

When the jacket is folded, the airplane wings wrap around the DVD that causes the eye to follow it from the front to the back, engaging the reader to see what the movie is all about.

I think my favorite part about this poster is how the airplane wraps around the phrase "Start Living" which is a key idea portrayed in the movie. It makes the airplane seem all the more real and exciting. 

Again the airplane still shows up in this design. I had to add a black stroke to the words to keep the words readable and yet preserve the color scheme of the design.

If given the chance now, after all of the design I've learned since creating this project, I might have done some things differently. But the past is over and new projects are always being served up. This was just one step in my continuous journey to learn design and photoshop, and one of my favorite projects to date.
