Rainforest Fringe Festival 2019

The first of its kind, Rainforest Fringe Festival is a 10 day spectacle of the best that Sarawak has to offer in terms of art, food, fashion and music. The festival happens right in the bustling capital town of Kuching, providing the ultimate lead up to the annual Rainforest World Music Festival. Rainforest Fringe Festival will bring attention to Sarawak’s rich indigenous arts and culture, giving festival goers a true sense of the beauty and energy of Sarawak, its people and its rain forest. Festival-goers will rediscover Sarawak through film screenings, fashion showcases, photography exhibitions, art & craft bazaars and other displays of Sarawak's highly underrated trove of local talents. RFF aims to re position Sarawak as more than an adventure destination but also one that has managed to preserve its indigenous culture and keep it alive and breathing in today's modern day context. Fringe events will run for 10 days in Kuching town, allowing for greater accessibility to RFF, encouraging not only visitors but locals alike to participate in the festival, making it a festival that belongs to both Kuchingites and travelers from all over.
The visual for the festival ( main image) is a collage made from a series of Sarawakian animals from the Bornean forests of Sarawak taken by world renowned wildlife photographer, Chi'en Lee. The other visuals followed suit with the same theme as the main visual, having a dark dark theme, a mixture of dark and vivid colors, or bright eye grabbing colors (the festival directors favorite).
This was my first project as a self taught graphic designer.
