Podium
Client: South Florida Science Center
Through this interactive experience, users will be able to learn about the human brain while feeling as if they were playing an old arcade game; thus creating an intuitive and unforgettable way to learn about the human brain.
This required designing a basic podium that houses a 43" multi-touch screen with a joystick embedded into the screen. The design needed to seamlessly blend in with the museum's current exhibits while bringing in all of the excitement of visiting an arcade.
During the design phase, it was discovered that embedding the joystick into a separate piece of masked glass that is next to the touch screen will trick the eye into believing that the joystick is actually in the screen.
Additionally, an LED light ring that is placed under the glass and surrounding the joystick completes the illusion. When users move the joystick, the LED ring will changes in response to their motions complimenting what direction the brain on the projection is moving.
The body of the podium was designed to match the museum's existing structures, both is coloring and in style. While the curved projection in front of the podium, captures the user's attention with stunning images of the human brain.
