Wolf & Shepherd Internship Project (Sock)

I had the honor to be a product design intern at Wolf and Shepherd, a mens dress shoe company. I worked side by side with them over the summer (2019) to come up with new designs. Enjoy!
For this project I was helping design Wolf and Shepherds first ever dress socks. Starting off I looked at other brands socks, materials, and packaging to reference.
Next in this process I sketched down all of the ideas I had before moving to digital sketching. I added call outs to smaller details like arch supports, toe boxes, and stitching. The blue circles show what design aspects moved to the next step.
After a lot a variation in my paper sketches, I moved to digital sketching on Illustrator. The brief of this project narrowed into creating a sock that had athletic aspects but still looked like a classic dress sock. These three were pitched to the CEO of the company along side of some of my bosses designs.
After our pitch, we went back to the drawing board combining our designs that were liked best by the CEO. This render is the final Wolf and Shepherd dress sock and no-show sock. The render was a collaboration between myself and my boss Zach Frey.
Six weeks later "Silver Cloud" was on the market! It has silver stitching on the bottom to prevent smelly feet and the Wolf and Shepherd logo on the top right.
The marketing for Silver Cloud.
Before this project, I never thought of socks being product designed. There was a lot that went into these dress socks. Trips to the store to see materials we liked, testing of those socks, material knowledge and meetings with our material supplier. I am very grateful being a part of this process from start to end. It was a very cool experience.
