Bridging the Gap: Science in Society

Devise a campaign which seeks to change the perceptions of the general public surrounding the Large Hadron Collider; making particle physics, and science in a broader sense, more engaging and more accessible.

Concept: Future Possibilities

It is suggested that the discovery of the Higgs Boson particle could allude to spin off technologies in the future. However what if we were to imagine such technologies now?
The interactive entry page would work by particles in the brand mark spinning round before colliding and then re-directing the user to the main website home page. The navigation system would operate using kinetic rollover particles, which when selected, expand to a larger particle window.
The navigation system would operate using kinetic rollover particles, which when selected, expand to a larger particle window. The Boson web-page condenses information about the higgs boson and the LHC in particle windows, which the user can navigate between.

The proposal of the campaign is to create a collaboration between CERN and the public. Users can create their own ‘Boson Technologies’ which seek to improve everyday life. The invention can then be saved to the users online portfolio. Alternatively, users can donate their invention, inviting society and scientists to develop newer and better things together.
The advertising campaign challenges people to create their own invention and to imagine the possibilities of Boson Technology; how it could be used to improve daily life and make things ten times as fast.
