Money, in this capitalist society, carries a complex mixture of elements which unforscene the human psychology in relation with individuals (family members, friends..etc). Maybe it can make some uncomfortable , or on the other hand, it can play
a role of connecting people depending on the given situation. However; most of the times, it is much more easier to clash into situations where people would rather have some complaints , problems, or the pressure to feel ‘careful’ when talking about money.
In this project “I asked for money and this is how it went”, tries to connect these ideas through mobile texting and its default sound effect in a given context. From a personal experience, when going out to drink with friends, are situations when invol- untarily have to pay for my friends’ drinks due to their present instability (aka being drunk). In these situations, it is very diffi- cult for me to ask back MY money which I have spent because of them, although at the same time I’m just being honest asking for my money.
Through the video, there are a number of attempts using differ- ent language and texting styles and an additional “storytelling” could be seen through the context. Nonetheless, the pauses made between the sounds, I believe, presents the psychology of the person who is texting.
