Chris Manfuso has extensive experience with assisting medical professionals in setting up ancillary services for their practices. Today’s ancillary services run the gamut, but the most common ones include medication dispensing, durable medical equipment and lab services. Ancillary services are typically any service that is performed outside of the traditional office visit. The services can be strictly medical, for example getting x-rays and lab work, or they can be cosmetic. Weight loss facilities and med-spa services are other ancillary services some private practice physicians might provide (and encourage) their patients to use.

As the industry has expanded, though, medication dispensing, durable medical equipment and lab services seem to be the ones most physicians need for their practices. A few years ago, internal medicine physicians and family practice physicians began widely incorporating medication dispensing into their practices thanks to technology that made it easy and efficient to dispense medication to patients. The second most popular offering by both family practice and internal medicine physicians were lab services.
