Notepad Poetry | Brand Identity Design

Notepad Poetry

Notepad Poetry is a literary arts movement that's based in Emalahleni/Witbank a developing industrial city that is best known for its coal. The founders of the movement are writers and artists themselves, and hence they saw the immense amount of talent and potential in the city.

The movement’s most ambitious goal is to turn poetry into an achievement within the society of the city. This means that they dedicate all their efforts towards promoting the culture of poetry as a respectable art form that is career worthy. They achieve this by opening platforms like poetry sessions and slams, so that the city can further engage and understand what poetry and writing is about.

Brief
The main objective in the brief that we were given, was to create a brand for the movement that would align with the “writer’s lifestyle/aesthetic” … yet also be versatile enough to reach the larger masses who form the audiences.

Strategy
We worked with the founding members to build the framework in the strategy stage of the project. In the sessions we centered everything around their primary customer – NomaIndia. We also looked at their brand attributes and their positioning.
Their brand attributes are;

Ubuntu, Book Worm, Inspiring, Welcoming, Growth, Guerrilla &Hippie.

As a result of the brand strategy we did, the movement is now currently the fastest growing arts/creative movement in the city, with recognition from artists and their other target audiences.

We believe in start-ups and initiatives like Notepad Poetry, simply because dreams do come true.
