The very renowned kumbh mela is India’s most culturally rooted fest which takes place every 12 years. Recently it happened in prayagraj,UP a.k.a Allahabad city. This time it has been the most successful and well organised kumbh covering around 15kms radius of the city.
People from all parts of the world came to the epicentre to take bath in the holy Triveni sangam of river Ganga,Yamuna and Saraswati.
Despite of all the arrangements made by the government; people were still getting lost from their families withstanding the orthodox slang: kumbh ke mele mein bichhde hue bhai.
Exploring the whole mela in about 2 days was way too difficult, but I tried to cover most of the primes of it by hook or crook from asking for lifts from a service goods carrier or a tractor trailer and strolling on dry sand for like 30kms for the shot.
There was a horde of naga sadhus and tantrik babas all around. These individuals are basically desi hippies who have given up materialistic stuff and have become devotees of Lord Shiva. One can always find them meditating, sipping their chai or smoking chillam.
one of them exclaimed ‘chai aur chillam baba ki roti hai’ which elaborates tea and weed is their daily bread.
Some of them still have a pinch of materialistic infatuation left; so if you encounter one someday perhaps and you really lurve your sunglasses, ‘Don’t go near’ - humanly advice.
