Challenge #3: Design a food-waste reduction app experience that incentivises users for their food-waste reduction.
Food waste is a global issue that no one really talks about. In all honesty, it is easier to forget and dispose something rather than buying just enough of what you need. But what if you are not given a choice to reduce the amount of food you purchase; particularly if the ingredients are oftentimes cheaply packaged in bulks?
In my years of using mobile apps, I have to say Asian e-commerce have come a long way to top the mobile app market. Offering more than just a platform to sell and buy, e-commerce apps (specifically of Asian origin) focusses a lot on audience interaction.
Drawing inspiration from this concept, Food Rescue is for a community of zero food waste heroes. This is an app users can grab extra meals from restaurants or homes at a cheaper price, swap leftover ingredients and even ask other users tips on living a zero food waste lifestyle.
