⼀颗完整的宝石拥有无数切⾯，如就日常的珍贵⽚刻便是由很多最记忆碎⽚重组。

简单⾃然的⽣活，带给我源源不断的惊喜，最终经过漫⻓时间，凝练成⼀颗珍贵的宝石。它偶有瑕疵，不甚完美，但你却能透过它看到自己平凡⼜⽆可取代的记忆。

The title of this zine is Gemstone Pieces.

A gemstone has countless facets, just as the precious moments of life are likewise reconstructed from one’s memory fragments. Every ordinary slice of life we have experienced becomes a new resource of energy. It prompts us to return to the sequence of living and discover the bright side from it.

In the third year of living in Shanghai, I moved into a place where I could see pigeons from my window. Those pigeons appear every afternoon at sunset and wheel happily in the air above the house. Their repeating spirals flow along with the season change. I record different views all year around to the accompaniment of my room window.

A piece of memory fragment can bring back sensational experience. From time to time, I look up for the beautiful lines of clouds, try to record some delightful odour with the sense of smell, or convey pictures in my brain with abstract colour blocks. The majority part of me are devoted to simple and ordinary life, whilst a small part of me are always free to imagine. I like to walk in the streets during springtime, where the traditional houses are pleasant to look at, observing the peculiar changes of colour under the light. I also enjoy recalling the memory of travels with friends: we draw each other on pocketbooks while waiting for our dishes. Occasionally, I’d find a cafe to work and paint, then go home with lovely flowers and bread for tomorrow.

I enjoyed a lot drawing these ordinary but precious memory fragments, meanwhile, viewers could share intimacy and familiarity with these pictures. In addition, drawing in front of the computer day after day is the basis of my life. Since it is impossible to avoid anxiety, I put this indispensable part of everyday life into the inside page as well.

Living simply has brought me endless surprises, and after a long time, all of which has crystallised into a precious gemstone. It is by no means a perfect one, it has flaws and imperfections indeed. However, it is something you can peer into, and reflect on a piece of ordinary yet irreplaceable memory.
