Freelance / 1st and 2nd Year Projects
This is a collage with a charcoal portrait which I made in one of my sketchbooks. It has a features a traditional Irish symbol called a 'Claddagh', which represents love, loyalty and friendship. This experiment helped loosen up my style of drawing and allowed to try a grunge style which I ended up adopting a lot more throughout my work.
This is a mixed media experiment which I created in my free time. I wanted to experiment with different materials when creating pieces. This was the first time which I worked with thread and I like the way that it adds different textures to a piece especially when I have been so used to working with flat surfaces.
This is a print which I made as part of a print making workshop which I attended in the first year of my course. Throughout my whole first year I was heavily inspired by David Carson. I used a stencil and ink to make a grungy typographic layout.
This is a scan made with a stencil as part of the print workshop which I attended. The piece below the stencil is a David Carson inspired piece. The use of covering the image with the stencil is to display contrast between positive and negative space.
This is a series of photograms which I created on light sensitive photo paper. It was part of a project with theme of built environment. The images were created using stencils of the skyline of Belfast from different windows.
