Our flashcards revolve around the study of signs, thus the title ‘Semiotics’, and as a group, we have decided to use food as our theme as it is a universal concept that will be recognize by any user. We explored and used a variety of food such as fruits, vegetables, desserts and so on which helped explained specific terms that are applied in semiotics. The intention and concept behind the design is to display a wide variety of food icons. Food is familiar with many people in the world and it is a universal icon display. The icon's meaning do not necessarily relate to food but it is to inform our audience their true meanings and story behind it without being literal or complex. It is a simple but yet, a powerful design icon. For these semiotic flash cards, we decided to go for a more flat icon style, with a shadow on the right side of the icon. To create a cohesive look throughout the cards and make it look like one uniform deck. To add onto this motif of continuity, we also implemented a pastel background throughout all the cards to further tie it all up.
