Colours & Shapes partnered with Lock & Mortice to create "Portal", an immersive installation for the 2019 Interior Design Show in Vancouver. The installation was designed with the goal of creating a truly zero-waste booth to set a new bar for sustainability in high end design exhibition. 100% of all materials used in this exhibit were re-claimed for furniture production by Lock & Mortice.

Concept

Our concept was anchored in the idea of sustainability and the desire to showcase high design with minimal waste. To explore this idea we embraced the metaphor of a window into another world. The installation strategically uses the viewer's perspective to draw them into a beautiful space and a surreal world beyond.

Content Exploration

To elevate the theme of simplicity and sustainability, we created a series of monochromatic abstract environments that appeared in a virtual window - a portal representing an envisioned future.
