New traditions.

This set of premium new year red pockets was for the New World Group and its K-11 Art Gallery, featuring a collaboration with local artist Kaya Cheung. Cheung’s abstract take conceptualises four traditional Chinese symbols—Koi (Carp), lotus seeds, flowing water and lotus leaves, and when placed together, forms a picture that brims with energy.

Derived from these four symbols are meanings deeply connected to both image and clever word play stemming from the vernacular. “Koi” represents prosperity in achieving one’s goals; “Lotus Seed” is a blessing of plentiful wealth and procreation; “Running Water” symbolises new life, vitality, and endless life; and “Lotus” means harmony in family and reunion. The visuals vitalise the occasion, whether it be gifting to others, or simply collecting for oneself.
