BACKGROUND
Perception is just one of the many challenges facing startups and those proposing disruptive technology solutions to everyday problems. With human attention spans at breaking point, new applications of technology often risk being deemed irrelevant or gimmicky if they fail to communicate their point of difference, and exactly how they can make a difference to people's lives.

THE CHALLENGE
The Drum partnered with Pitch@Palace to brief creative agencies around the world to create an ad that brings humanity to technology, highlighting how it can enhance our lives.

Asking agencies to select from the list of Pitch@Palace shortlisted entrepreneurs and work their magic on a variety of pitch concepts.

CHOSEN ENTREPRENEUR: OPEN BIONICS
A bionics company developing affordable, assistive devices that enhance the human body. Current upper limb prostheses exist as hooks, grippers, or expensive bionic hands. Open Bionics are on a mission to make beautiful bionic limbs more accessible.
RATIONALE
This ad shows that the brand understands how even simple everyday things can challenge people with disabilities. It can be expanded into a series featuring other common things which requires a complete pair of limbs, like clapping.
