Kang Hsuan Maath Texbook Cover & Layout Design

This is a math textbook design for 1st-year junior high. Math textbooks are usually complicated in content, so the purpose is to reduce students’ repulsion to learning math. As we aim to raise students’ interest, we applied vivid visual presentation and 3D graphic technique on the cover design in order to make teaching context into practices. 
The cover image we made put into consideration the difficult level of the content, which should fall between elementary school and high school, so prior discussion and analysis about how visual design and color match have impression on students’ perception on level of difficulties is a must. On page design, various subtopics are contained, besides teaching content, there are examples, practices, key points…etc., hence to classify these levels becomes essential so that teachers and students may enjoy the greatly improved readability.

1. Cover page: we wish to embed textbook content with design, so the first-learned algebra symbol “x” serves as the main object, in the picture also shows sieve method and prime number balls, an aquarium with scale to show prime integer and a calculator. All elements are daily applications of textbook content, showing the dynamic aspect of math.
2. Chapter pages: motivate learning with dynamic layout design, short story and photos
3. Inner pages: each of three chapters has its own theme color, and use font size to differentiate items.

康軒國1上數學課本設計

數學課本的設計,一直以來因為內容複雜,為了要讓學生降低對於學習數學的排斥心裡,因此我們希望能在封面設計上,將數學教學內容,轉換成生活中的應用,由趣味的視覺表現以及3D繪圖技法,提升學生學習興趣。
1.封面設計:我們希望讓封面與學習內容做結合,以國中數學第一次會學習到的代數符號”x“作為封面設計,畫面中利用篩檢法找出質數球、以水族箱上的刻度表達正整數的概念、計算機,都是課本的教學內容,在生活中的應用,用趣味的視覺來呈現數學。
2.章節頁設計:用活潑的編排方式,搭配一則小故事與照片,來引起學習興趣
3.內頁版型:用色彩來區分本書三大章節,同一個章節以單一色系來做設計,然後不同項目,再以文字大小做區分。
