Roots Town

Roots Town
Is a conceptual idea for a residential project in new administrative capital in Egypt, looking at the local characteristics of the current project on new Cairo and new capital which embraced more traditional approaches, we wanted to add a new dimension that project shall provide. our approach is to give an efficient yet unique and interesting environment to living in which privacy, interaction, and entertainment are equally considered.
The project is located on an area of 138,096 sqm, The project comprises of residential buildings, a strip mall, and a recreational central area.
We built this conceptual idea based on the human need for natural social interaction, the question was how to achieve a connection at a level that would be appealing and acceptable in our everyday lives. before answering this we came up with some considerations to focus on, the hierarchy of spaces from public to private, the natural atmosphere that makes such interaction more welcomed, and most important to make such interaction come very naturally.
As human beings, we thrive in a coherent social environment, and this is exactly the aim of this project, enhanced interaction, welcoming social activity, and integrating with nature we build healthier communities.

-In urban planning: we created five main zones that intersect with each other  creating public activities that separate it from the semi-public zones,
-In buildings: we tried to manipulate orientation and block composition to provide an open sky view.
-In units: we tried to make sure that the resident will be comfortable living -In one building by creating large welcoming entrances and provide privacy for each unit, we also made sure natural lighting and greens are integrated whiten the building floors.
