This is a part of my Identity Project in Forum class which I decided to do hand-lettering using oil pastels, charcoal and embossing powder on black paper.
This is a Christmas gift to the Baylors, my host family. I draw their favorite bible verse, which is Jeremiah 29:11 "For i know the plans i have for you, declares the Lord: plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Grid project: "Lettering." Markers, cut papers and watercolor on paper.
Forum final: "Lucura."

The theme craziness reminds me of my best friend who inspires me to do my first embroidery piece. The words in the background are words that related to my friend. I use scratchy font and some of the words are spelled backward that associates with the theme craziness. I also want to make a piece that is not just crazy but delicate at the same time, which is the reason i chose to embroider butterflies and flowers. The gradient is changing from the top to the bottom.

This piece is a research project about Vietnamese calligraphy that I do for my drawing class. The medium is ink on paper. Trinh Cong Son was a famous Vietnamese, musician, songwriter, painter and poet. One of his most popular songs is "Để Gió Cuốn Đi," which means "Cast into the Wind."

On the right of the piece is his portrait and a part of the lyrics:
"Sống trong đời sống
Cần có một tấm lòng
Để làm gì em biết không?"
Meaing that:
"To live one’s life, one needs a heart
To what end, do you know, my love?
To cast into the wind"
Week 7 of drawing class. 22x30''
Week 9 of drawing class. 25x36''
Final artwork for drawing class: "Ability." I used to be so desperated when I knew that drawing course is a requirement for all freshmens. I first started my drawing class with full of fears and lack of self-esteem because i did not know how to draw and i have never done any drawing before, except for drawing letters. Since then, I've learned a lot from my instructor and my friends who always cheer me up and help me realize my ability to draw that I would never know. I did not expect that I would go this far. Yet I'm still learning and improving myself everyday, this piece is a thank you letter from me to my instructor Ulric Joseph as well as my friends.
"My second family"
I have been drawing landscapes and cityscapes for the whole Fall semester. I want to push myself to get out of my comfort zone so I decided to draw people for the first time.
