The rise of polarised views and opposing opinions within society has caused an infectious stigma of segregation between humanity. People are design to view things in different perspectives, however along with the influence of social media, it has often led us to a point of separation. This design shows us that we are together part of a bigger picture, we are a puzzle piece that makes an artwork come to life and if we want to go far, we have to go together. Drawn from recent political situations such as the Hong Kong and climate change protest, ‘FORWARD’ promotes unity by letting us see that we are all part of this community. The design is based on the political symbol of an ‘anchor’, once we lift it, the boat will move forward to its journey. It also resembles an arrow, giving us a direction to move forward and a community. By combining these two elements and displaying it as a jigsaw brooch jewellery piece, people are able to participate and have realisation that we are all part of this bigger picture.
