Kiharu is a rental kimono shop with a photo studio in Kyoto Gion.
It was born from the desire to have women in beautiful kimonos walk around the city of Gion.
I was in charge of overall branding.

キハルは、京都祇園のフォトスタジオを併設したレンタル着物店。
祇園の街を美しい着物姿の女性達に闊歩してもらいたいという願いから誕生しました。
私はブランディング全般を担当しました。
Logo design
This work was selected for «Japan Typography Association 2017».
We looked into the identity of the ancient city Kyoto, Japan when designing the logo.
We thought about a suitable appearance for Gion which is the town famous for Geisha in Kyoto.
And we got inspiration from kimono designs.
We designed the logo mark from the idea of the kimono sash clip.
Two circles in the center of the image are "Bonbori", Gion’s symbol mark.
The type of logo was also inspired by kimono.
We designed this logo with the image from the overlapping part of the kimono and positioned it vertically.
Then, this logo is completed with a sense of Japanese tradition and it’s elegance.

この作品は、日本タイポグラフィ年鑑2017に入選しました。
ロゴをデザインするうえで大切にしたのは、日本の古都である京都らしさです。
京都の中でも芸妓のいる町である祇園に相応しい佇まいを考えました。
そして、着物からインスピレーションを得て、着物の帯を留める帯留めをロゴマークとしてデザインしました。

真ん中の２つの丸は、祇園のシンボルマークである「ぼんぼり」をイメージしています。
ロゴタイプもまた、着物の重なりをイメージしてデザインし、縦に配置しました。
そして、とても日本的で静的な上品さを含んだロゴが完成しました。
